This TikTok by the talented user @dina1ovr inspired this article with her comparison of Negan Smith and Shauna Shipman. It makes too much sense!
It’s no surprise there is a large crossover of The Walking Dead and Yellowjackets fans. Two incredible shows with themes of survival, humanity, and human resilience with surprising plot lines that keep us hooked. Being my two favorite television shows, I noticed some similarities between some characters and thought it’d be fun to dive deep into who reminded me of who.
Shane or Negan / Shauna Shipman

There was no way to choose between two of the most loved/hated villains in television history and Shauna Shipman because she truly embodies both. Shane, Negan, and Shauna all became wanna-be martyrs after a big loss in their lives (Lori/Carl, Lucille, and Jackie). They all believe they’re the best being in control and that they have what it takes to lead the group. Nobody else.
Rick Grimes / Taissa Turner

This might come as a surprise (I was between Nat or Tai for Rick) but hear me out. Regular Tai and Rick are both diplomatic and lawful people. Yes, they both lose it sometimes (other Tai chomping on dirt, and don’t forget when Rick imagined the telephone ringing back at the prison).
Tai may not be considered the leader of the pack in YJ, but with the anticipated battle of Shauna vs. Tai in season 4 I think we’ll see more similarities in these two characters than expected.
Daryl Dixon / Natalie scatorccio

Likely not a surprise to anyone and certainly my favorite comparison, Daryl Dixon and Natalie Scatorccio. Both came from very broken home lives with abusive parents and yet turn out to be a huge voice of reason and empathy in their respective shows. They have hard exteriors but when given the chance to do something correct to help others, they take it.
I couldn’t help but see the resemblance of Daryl after Beth’s death sitting at that tree and crying when we saw Natalie crying in the snow. You can’t help but to love both these characters. I definitely said “if Daryl dies we riot” more than a few times in posts throughout the years, you can imagine how I felt about Natalie’s death.
Glenn rhee / Coach ben

Glenn and Coach were somewhat of the moral compasses at different points. Both characters frequently held on by the thought of their partners, and were both gruesome and unfortunate deaths.
I will not forgive Negan for what happened that episode. 🍉
Eugene Porter / Misty Quigley

Eugene and Misty certainly resemble each other in their need of validation. Misty breaking the transponder and Eugene pretending to know the cure are deceitful plays to get everyone on their side. Both saw how much they were needed and/or safe, even if the things they did weren’t for the greater good.
Carol Peletier / lottie Matthews

At first, I wasn’t sure if I’d find a match for Carol as she is an extremely unique character with a stunning arc. I came to the conclusion that at different parts of her story, Carol and Lottie are somewhat similar. Both Lottie and Carol do what they think is best for the group, without always consulting others (ahem, Karen and David ring a bell? The frog scientist?). They come from complex home lives and go through major changes throughout the show.
Beth Greene / Laura Lee

Other than their obvious similar facial features, one of the easiest connections between the two shows characters, both these sweet girls were fated to an unfortunate (and shocking!) death RIGHT before escape. They had similar traits of caring for others and viewers wanted to see them get to freedom.
